A cool breeze
and the scent of damp earth
whisper,
“Autumn is coming.”
Sun rays beam
through late summer leaves
sending morning light dapples over freshly cut lawns,
blankets of green grass
glistening,
tiny diamond droplets
strewn like scattered seeds.
White clouds sail
softly,
floating on an endless lake of blue,
rippling like white sheets
stretched and snapped
to an invisible line.
Birds whistle
and warble
through the treetops.
Crickets provide the backdrop
chirping,
chiming
in gentle harmony.
Together they sing:
The LORD is good.
The LORD is good.
The LORD –
He is good.
