He who is in you

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4

My wise friend Tracy recently shared in a blog post the passage from 2 Kings 6 where God opened the eyes of one of Elisha’s servants during a battle.  It seemed that all odds were against them.  They were greatly outnumbered and obviously doomed, the servant thought.  Then God answered Elisha’s prayer and opened the servant’s eyes: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.  Wow!!

As members of Christ’s body, we have God’s ministering spirits at our side, too:  Hebrews 1:14 says, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”  But not only that — we have God himself!  We have the power of the Almighty God working within us!

Sometimes we feel outnumbered, defeated.  Satan is just too great, we think.

But do we believe what the Bible says?  “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Psalm 121 says,

“I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

My help comes from the LORD,

who made heaven and earth.”

Whatever your problems are, remember:  The Creator is greater.  And He is in you!
