I am so very grateful to be married to a strong Christian man. There are many reasons why, but here are six:
1 — Because my husband is quick to forgive me (and the Lord knows I need it). He follows Christ’s example in being “tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave [me]” (Eph. 4:32)
2 — Because our best discussions are spiritual ones. When you both agree on the importance of studying scripture in an effort to know God, you’ll never be short of things to talk about. And these discussions will help you grow.
3 — Because we agree that guiding our children to Jesus and giving them a reverence for God and His Word is are our most important tasks as parents. We might disagree about a certain parenting issue at first, but when we have Scripture as our guide (not our own fallible opinions), we can discern and try to make a wise decision as God would have us to.
4 — Because he actively helps my faith to grow. His own godly character challenges me to be more like Christ, and he will lovingly tell me if he is concerned that something I have said or am doing is unbiblical or not good for my soul. He is a wonderful example of Ephesians 5:25-26:
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word…
5 — Because we agree that we want to grow in our service and in bringing others to Christ, so we don’t argue over us each wanting to do our own thing. Instead we receive great joy as we’re able to serve together. At the same time, he is never so busy that he doesn’t have time for me. He deeply values me as his wife and I am so grateful for his love.
6 — Because we are taking life’s greatest journey — the journey to heaven — together. Without a doubt he is helping me get there.
To any Christian man or woman who is not yet married, I encourage you to marry a Christian who is strong in the faith. It makes a world of a difference. ❤
