What shall it profit?

What shall it profit a young woman, if she wins dozens of team sports trophies and earns a free ride to college, and loses her soul?

What shall it profit a young man, if he makes it into to Harvard University, but doesn’t make it into Heaven?

What shall it profit a woman, if she clothes her family in beautiful and stylish clothing, but fails to clothe herself with Christ and be saved?

What shall it profit a child, if her parents give her all the best experiences in life — experiences they wish they’d had as a kid — but they don’t prioritize the Christian experience, and this child grows up to be well-rounded but lost?

What shall it profit a child, if he receives the best education this world can offer, but never learns the importance of the Truth that can save his soul?

What shall it profit a man or a woman, if they climb the corporate ladder of success and achievement during life, yet fail to attain eternal life?

What shall it profit a family, if they manage to avoid disease through a strict clean diet, yet live in eternal suffering after they die?

What shall it profit a man, if he spends much time and money on earth enjoying the hobbies he loves, but pays for it with his soul in the age to come?

What shall it profit a woman, if she keeps a clean and tastefully-decorated home during her lifetime, but does not find herself at home with God in eternity?

What shall it profit a couple, if they live debt-free and retire at age 50, but forget about the debt Jesus paid and miss out on his “retirement plan”?

What shall it profit a family, if they are able to enjoy wonderful vacations together during life, but are separated from each other and God in the life to come?

What shall it profit a man, if he gains the property of his dreams, but is unable to enter the Promised Land?

What shall it profit a person, if he or she achieves every one of their hopes and dreams in life, but loses their soul in the process?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
— Mark 8:36

“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children…
— Deuteronomy 4:9
